A pre-order is a promise with a queue behind it, and the fair thing is to tell you exactly what happens between paying and unboxing. So here is the whole timeline for a Microduck order - what we do, what you should see, and where to look when you want a status you can trust.

Step by step
1. You order
You sign in with Google, pick the robot (and any packs) on the pre-order page, and pay once through Stripe. Taxes and shipping are calculated at checkout - the number on the Stripe screen is the number you pay.
2. The order lands in your account
The order is tied to your account from the first second, so "where is my order?" never depends on an email inbox search. Sign in, open payments, and the order and its status are there. This is also where you grab the order number that support needs.
3. Colourway matching
Microduck ships in Cream, Graphite, Lavender and Sky. If you need one specific colourway, email support after ordering and we will match your order if we can - the earlier the email, the easier the match. Read how the four colourways compare if you are still deciding.
4. Production updates on the updates page
The updates page is the project log - what has shipped, what changed, what is next. Pre-order customers are the reason that page exists, so it is written for you, not for a press release. When there is something real to say about batches and dates, that is where it lands first.
5. Shipping
When your order ships, it leaves with the address you gave at checkout. Two things to do before then:

Keep your address current. Moved? Email support with the order number before your batch is packed.

Expect the customs conversation in some countries. Taxes are handled at checkout; depending on where you live, your local carrier may still handle import paperwork or duties on delivery, the same as any international parcel.
6. Unboxing
In the box: the robot, a battery, a USB-C cable and a game controller. The seven trained moves are installed, so the honest setup time is "charge it, turn it on, drive it". If you also ordered packs, they arrive as their own line items - play gear (Accessory), power (Charger), spares and tooling (Dev).

Shipping questions, answered straight
When exactly will my Microduck ship? Pre-orders are open and shipping updates come through the updates page. We do not put dates in marketing copy - when there is a confirmed date for your batch, it is posted there in plain language.
Can I change my shipping address? Yes, before your order is packed - email support with the order number and the new address.
Can I change my colourway after ordering? Email support and we will match your order if we can. Earlier is always easier.
How much is shipping? It is calculated at checkout for your address and shown on the payment page before you pay.
Are there import duties? Taxes are handled at checkout. Depending on your country, your carrier may still handle duties or paperwork on delivery, like any international parcel.
Can I cancel my pre-order? Email support with your order number and we will help you sort it out.
Will my order be split if I ordered packs? Packs are separate line items - if logistics ever require splitting, the order page and support will tell you exactly what is on the way.
