What $399 buys
The robot ships ready to run, with no extra purchase required:
-
The Microduck robot itself: 25 cm tall, about 800 g, 15 motors.
-
A battery, a USB-C cable and a game controller.
-
Camera, LiDAR and two IMUs - the sensing stack the walking policies run on.
-
Seven trained moves, installed: standing up, sitting and standing, walking, turning, kicking, driving and grabbing.
-
The open-source SDK, simulator and reinforcement-learning stack, all public on GitHub.
The packs, side by side
| Pack | Price | What is in it | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| No pack | $0 | Robot, battery, USB-C cable, game controller, seven trained moves | Most first orders. The robot is complete on its own. |
| Charger pack | $39 | Dual charger and two extra batteries | Long sessions without stopping at the first empty battery |
| Accessory pack | $39 | Laser pointer, NFC polaroid, two rollers, a ball and ten NFC tags | Play - this is the gear the trained moves use |
| Dev pack | $119 | Three spare motors, five motor cables, two batteries, a dual charger, ten NFC tags, a Hugging Face credit, a screwdriver and a screw pack | Opening the robot up, running your own policies, and having spares on hand |
Every price is before taxes and shipping. Packs are separate line items, so you can pre-order the robot now and add gear in a later order.
Why it is not on Amazon or Walmart
Microduck is a pre-order sold direct by the maker, Pollen Robotics. Selling direct is what keeps the open-source loop tight: your order sits in your account, the colourway is matched to your order, and support and spares come from the same people who build the robot.
If you saw a "Microduck" listing on a marketplace, it is not this robot. The cheap plastic duck toys that share the name come from unrelated sellers - the is Microduck a toy? post untangles that search confusion properly.
