Microduck colourways: Cream, Graphite, Lavender and Sky compared

Four Microduck robots side by side in Cream, Graphite, Lavender and Sky

Four shells, one robot. Microduck ships in Cream, Graphite, Lavender and Sky, and every colourway has identical internals: the same 15 motors, the same camera, LiDAR and IMUs, the same seven trained moves. So this choice is not technical - it is about the desk the duck will live on, and nobody can make it for you. What this page can do is describe the four honestly.

What stays the same across all four

  • The robot. 25 cm, about 800 g, 15 motors - identical in every colourway.

  • The price. $399 before taxes and shipping, whichever shell you pick.

  • The moves. Standing up, sitting and standing, walking, turning, kicking, driving and grabbing - all seven, installed.

  • The beak and feet stay yellow-orange across the range, so every Microduck still reads unmistakably as a duck.

The four colourways

Cream - the classic. Soft off-white shell, yellow-orange beak and feet, and the cleanest look on a wooden desk, a white office or next to a laptop. If you want the robot to look like the photos on this site, this is the one in most of them.

Graphite - the quiet one. A dark grey shell with the same warm accents; it disappears into a dark setup and looks the most "machine" of the four. The pick for night-desk setups and for anyone who does not want the robot to shout.

Lavender - the friendly one. A soft purple shell that photographs extremely well and turns the robot into a desk object rather than a gadget. The most-gifted colourway guess the team makes - soft colours land differently with kids and partners.

Sky - the bright one. A light blue shell that pops against both dark desks and white rooms. If your corner of the internet already has opinions about ducks, Sky is the one that asks to be filmed.

How to choose

  • Match the desk, not the mood. Colourways look different in daylight versus warm lamps; Graphite reads almost black on some desks and soft grey in sunlight.

  • Choose for where it sits. Cream and Sky suit light rooms; Graphite owns dark shelves; Lavender sits happily in between.

  • Think about the camera. If you plan to film the duck, contrast matters: Sky and Lavender pop on film, Cream blends, Graphite turns mysterious.

  • If you are gifting it, go softer. Cream and Lavender are the safest gifts; Graphite the most personal.

  • When in doubt, Cream. It is the reference look and the one every photo on this site agrees with.

Changing your mind after ordering

Ordered and then the other colour caught your eye? Email support@microduck.homes with your order number and we will match your order if we can - the earlier the email, the easier the match. Colourways are not sold in limited runs, so there is no FOMO to trade against; there is only the desk you actually own.

Care and keeping

  • Wipe the shell with a soft, dry or barely damp cloth. It is a robot, not a bath toy - keep liquids away from the joints and the ports.

  • The beak, feet and other accent parts are the high-contact points on a walking robot; scuffs there are wear, not damage.

  • If you ever decide to customise, the shell is the friendliest part to experiment on - the DIY guide covers mods and prints.

Microduck colourways: FAQ

Do colourways cost different amounts? No. All four are $399 before taxes and shipping.

Is one colourway rarer or limited? No - all four ship as standard.

Do colourways change the robot's internals or moves? No. Identical robots, different shells.

Which colourway is most popular? Cream and Sky lead in photos and orders; Graphite has the most loyal niche. We do not steer you - the desk knows.

Can the colour affect resale? None that we can see - robots do not resell much, because people keep them.

Can I order two robots in different colours? Yes - orders are line items, so two ducks in two shells is two line items in one checkout.
